Deep Neck Lift
Achieving a youthful, refined, and balanced neck contour is one of the main goals of neck
aesthetics, and one of the most effective methods to accomplish this is the deep neck lift
procedure. This technique targets not only the skin and superficial tissues but also the deeper
anatomical structures of the neck, providing long-lasting and natural results.
1. Submandibular Gland – Submandibular Salivary Gland (Reduction)
One of the main factors that disrupt the neck contour is an enlarged or prominent
submandibular gland. During a deep neck lift, the portion of the gland extending beyond
the jawbone is carefully removed to achieve partial reduction. In patients with a thick and
heavy neck structure, this reduces the prominence of the submental area and provides a
sharper, more aesthetic cervico-mental angle without functional risks.
2. Digastric Muscle – Deep Layer Neck Muscles (Reshaping)
The anterior bellies of the digastric muscle may be hypertrophic or prominent in some
patients, creating thickness and a “bulging” appearance in the neck. Surgical reshaping or
thinning of this muscle refines the submental region, giving it a slimmer, more elegant, and
youthful look. This step is especially critical for patients with a thick neck structure, as it
significantly enhances the aesthetic outcome.
3. Deep Fat Pad (Removal)
The deep fat pads located beneath the platysma muscle often make the neck appear thick,
round, and heavy, particularly in middle-aged and older patients. Selective removal of these
fat deposits, combined with repositioning of the platysma muscle, creates a longer, slimmer,
and more sophisticated neck profile. When performed together with a deep plane facelift, the
three-dimensional rejuvenation effect becomes even more pronounced.
Summary
Reduction of the submandibular gland, reshaping of the digastric muscle, and removal
of the deep fat pad go beyond the classic deep plane facelift by providing comprehensive
improvement in neck aesthetics. This approach delivers results that are more youthful,
natural, and long-lasting.
